Collagen fibres from the Dermis get heat through RF energy. RF energy produces heat when the tissues electrical resistance converts electric current to thermal energy deeper within the dermis. The RF device uniformly disperses the energy to three dimensional volumes of tissue at controllable depths. Initial collagen denaturisation within this thermally modified deep tissue is thought to be the mechanism for immediate tissue contraction. Subsequent neo-collagenesis then further tightens the dermal tissue and therefore the wrinkle also disappears.

Laser Hair Removal – How does it work?

Unwanted hair can be a real pain, literally in some cases.  There are several options for removing it, these include:

• Shaving – where you regularly shave the hair off with a razor and shaving foam or cream.
• Waxing – where warm liquid wax is applied to your skin and then pulled off with material strips taking the hair will it.
• Using an epilator - An epilator is an electrical device used to remove hair by mechanically grasping multiple hairs simultaneously and pulling them out.

All of these methods of hair removal have severe disadvantages.  Shaving needs to be done on a regular basis and the hair grows back very quickly and often thicker as you only remove the top of the hair.  Waxing and using an epilator can both be very painful, even if done professionally, as you are essentially yanking the hair out by the root.  The hair grows back more slowly with these methods, but will last an absolute maximum of a few weeks.

A relatively new and state of the art method of removing unwanted hair in all areas is laser hair removal.  Laser hair removal works by using a hair removal laser pointing a concentrated beam of light at the unwanted hair. The light is absorbed by the pigment, which damages the follicle enough to prevent future growth. Lasers can remove hair for anywhere from several months to years, much longer than the previously mentioned options.  The results can differ from person to person, depending on the thickness of their hair and the rate at which your hair normally grows.  Laser hair removal is relatively pain free.  When the hair is being removed you might feel a small pinch, but compared to the pain of waxing it is absolutely nothing. 

Laser hair removal, whilst more expensive than other treatments, gives you much better value for money as it lasts so much longer.  You are paying for a longer period of time hair free and the convenience of not having to have such regular hair removal treatments or shaving every day or two.  It can be carried out on any part of the body and so is appropriate for anywhere you want to be hair free including sensitive areas such as on your face or underarms.

How does it all work?

This laser treatment works by blasting your tattoo with a very high energy laser with a very short pulse. The pulse of the laser is absorbed by the ink which then breaks down into smaller pieces, which the body can then disperse naturally. You usually find a gentle fading of the tattoo after each session of treatment.
